Where the Red Fern Grows Billy Colman is hard working and determined ten-year-old boy who lives in the Ozark Mountains. He lives with his mother, father, and two sisters, in a log house near the Illinois River. Billy loves to hunt and explore the hills and river bottoms and dreams of one day owning his own coon hounds. His family is poor, and cannot afford to demoralise animals. One day while exploring an old fishermens camp, Billy found a magazine with an advertisement offering a pair of Redbone Coonhound pups for $50.00. By deliver his money from selling fruit and bait to fishermen, Billy saved the money he needed to buy the pups. When it was time to get the puppies, Billy walked the 20 miles to townspeople to get them. On his way home he stopped for the night in a cave. There he saw the names Dan and Ann carved on a tree and decided to name the puppies Dan and Little Ann. With the help of his grandfather, Billy l earned to trap a coon so that he could use the confuse to train his new pups. Using information he gathered from listening to the stories of old coon hunters, Billy taught his dogs everything he could. By the time hunting conciliate arrived he and his dogs were ready. Dan was a strong dog and ready to fight and Little Ann proved to be the brains of the team. Dan and Little Ann treed their first coon in the biggest mulberry fig tree around. The No Child left-hand(a) Behind put to work of 2001Control of the populace education system has been left to the State for most of the countrys history, it was not until the 1950s that the federal government played a role in categorical programs, but the national government refrained from involvement in academics until the 90s. Three days after taking up his position in office, George scrubbing announced his plan for the No Child Left Behind act (NCLB) which was a consolidated reform of the 1962 Elementary and Secondary Education Act or ESEA (McGuinn, p. 1). ESEA focused on providing resources for the underprivileged students, whereas the NCLB act focuses on all students in public schools. On January 8, 2002, the No Child Left Behind act was enacted. The faithfulness enlarged federal education spending, required states to design and administer proficiency test to all students grades three and up, demanded that States put qualified teachers in every syllabus room, and promised to hold all States accountable for the performance of their public schools (McGuinn, p. 1). The act itself is what was felt to be a answer for the failure of properly educating the Statess children. How the act is put in to action, and if it serves its purpose, has depended on the States requirements and statistics. Public education was slowly decreasing in quality, consequently, failing Americas children, and a solution was needed. According to author, and control of the K-12 Education Task Force, Chester Finn Jr. No Child Left Behind arose from the premise that Americas public schools werent doing well enough and states ought not to be left to their let devices to improve them. Americas future relies on the children of today, so education should remain a priority of this countries government. There will never be an all pleasing solution the need to complain will exist no matter what is done, but this does not mean the government should step away. The law was a backbone created to keep up the States and aid in academic success, therefore the law does not need to be negated, just reformed and improved.
